Once when I was young and unfamiliar

Once when I was young and unfamiliar,

With the way things worked,

I  had thought I would change the world.

That I would set it all straight,

 The daily scandals and the coal-gates.

The problem ,I thought,

I can easily solve,

If ,for once,I resolved.

But the scale was too big and,

The roots too deep inside to reach,

With the hand so small and weak.

So I waited,

Until one day I was older,

But the world stood the same,

Only a little bolder.

I got sad

For I felt cheated.

That just when I would think

It is time to act,

There was someone or something

Always there to distract.

Then one day I got invalid,

And the evil still stood solid,

I lamented what I had done,

In my life except toting burdens.
